When we started Grace & Co (way back in 2022) I used to dread it when anyone would say: but your team don’t ACTUALLY work for you do they?
[Meaning they are not full time employees]
I used to fumble around talking about the contracts we had with people and the amount of time they committed to Grace.
Now I say: ISN’T THAT BRILLIANT??
When our team are not working for Grace they are learning new things, working in different industries and doing other work that they enjoy. And that’s OK – in fact it’s great for the team.
It’s taken me a while to get my head around it, because it’s very different to the way that I’ve worked in agencies where it was all about trying to ‘own’ as much talent as you could. 100% commitment. All in or not at all.
And we’re lucky that we’ve got amazing talent that *want* to work with us – I think that’s because we’re doing interesting projects helping great brands accelerate through the new and the unknown (and we’re generally nice people).
We don’t know exactly what the future is going to look like but we think we’re probably heading in the right direction.
